Taking The Lead

Taking the Lead is a high-energy, interactive workshop for Years 5 and 6 that brings active travel to life through performance, music and audience participation. Led by two contrasting facilitator characters, pupils explore the benefits of walking and wheeling, road safety, and the positive impact their travel choices can have on the environment.

Packed with humour, lively debate and plenty of opportunities to join in, the workshop encourages children to think critically rather than simply be told what to do. As pupils prepare for the exciting transition to secondary school, they are challenged to spot mistakes, question risky choices and help steer the action in the right direction. Through a series of entertaining scenarios, the well-meaning but distracted facilitator is kept in check by their safety-savvy counterpart, with pupils playing a key role in deciding what happens next.

The result is a memorable, fun-filled experience that empowers young people to travel confidently, safely and responsibly.

Aimed at year/class groups up to about 60, the workshop is 50 minutes long. This is part of Wizard's safety and development programmes for primary school children.

Producing high-quality theatre-in-education that engages staff and students is of paramount importance – this mission drives us forward. The cherry on the cake is that when we do such a great job, we receive multiple reviews testifying to that statement.

Every project delivers a different experience to those involved so it rewarding to hear first-hand what our audience took away with them. For some, our projects can be reflective and thought-provoking, for others they can install confidence and ignite passion. Please take a moment to read some reviews from past and present Wizard Theatre clients.

One of the best sessions I've seen: Purposeful - every minute counted! Important message - real life situations. Prepared to challenge children's ideas yet keep their self esteem intact. Thank you very much.

It was an amazing session, that was thoroughly enjoyed by all staff. It was lovely for us to see all our staff work together with such enthusiasm. We can't wait for the sessions to start with the children and parents are equally enthusiastic.
