We thrive on running the best theatre-in-education pieces across the country in a variety of venues. Our mission is to produce high-quality thought provoking theatre, creating message based drama that explores and challenges ‘human nature’ whilst encouraging confidence and a sense of fun in our audiences. Many of our shows and workshops are commissioned annually by various councils and organisations. The Power of Reading

Following the same format as the Power of Drama, 1 day per week for 6- week period, this programme inclusively involves the whole class. Working in tandem with your current reading material, the Wizard Theatre take the classes current reading book and bring it to life! Exploring characters and breaking down the plot, this is the perfect catalyst for those children reluctant to engage with reading and using their imagination.

On The Right Road

A great blend of a 30-minute show followed by a 30-minute workshop for Years 1 to 4. With the help of two friends, Craig & Jonna, the children will explore the various travel options of the school journey and investigate together different ways to make them safer.

Staying Safe

Coming into its 20-year anniversary, our Staying Safe transition workshop is another critical session for preparing those in year 5 and 6 for the move to secondary school. Themes addressed include independence and responsibility, with particular emphasis on travelling without adult supervision. This workshop has helped numerous children and in at least 3 cases actually stopped an ongoing crime!

I Love You, Mum - I Promise I Won't Die

Our popular hard-hitting GCSE EDUQAS Syllabus play by renown playwright Mark Wheeller, tells the story of Daniel Spargo-Mabbs who tragically lost his life to MDMA. Told in the actual words of his family and friends, this 45- minute verbatim play has been seen by thousands of young people. Following the play the accompanying 30- minute workshop explores the facts about illegal drugs and young people’s attitude towards them. This project is aimed at Years 9 to 13.

Teacher Training

Popular with teachers up and down the country, our 3-hour practical inset workshop equips staff with useful practical tools to use immediately in the classroom to help with focus, imagination, speaking and listening skills. It is also recommended by many as a first-class team bonding session with bags of fun and laughter.

The Power of Drama

One of our most popular projects, the Power of Drama is loved widely for its ability to improve children’s self-esteem and confidence, having a notable positive influence in the classroom on both their academic and social development. This project typically runs for 6-weeks, for one-day per week.

Windrush

We bring the story of Windrush to life creating, devising and rehearsing scenes to culminate in a final performance (with the option of being filmed). Children will explore the various themes, history, journey and people in a nurturing and supportive environment… while always having lots of fun.

Choices

Our 60-minute interactive Drug Awareness Workshop is so popular and running for its 25th year! Aimed for year 5 and 6, the interactive workshop explores ‘choice’ and ‘decision-making’ at a poignant time in their development. ‘Do we always have one’? ‘How much do friends influence our decisions?’ and ‘How can I make the right choice for me? Our choices workshop helps with critical preparation for the move to secondary school.

‘OUCH!’ is an interactive performance which uses the ‘mantle of the expert’ approach to help pupils learn to stay safe and healthy exploring safety inside and outside the home and focusing on ‘Medicines’, ‘Road Safety’ & ‘Stranger Danger’. For years 1 -3.

Footsteps the Movie is an interactive performance workshop for Years 1&2. Its main focus is on safe road crossing, but it also contains sustainable transport messages. It is designed to complement, Ouch! Staying Safe and other pedestrian training schemes.

Chicken

Written by Mark Wheeller, this 45-minute power play followed by a 30-minute workshop addresses the very worst aspects of Peer Pressure with tragic results. Written in 1992 this project is targeted towards Year 5 & 6 and close to almost 5,000 performances!!!

With a 98% re-booking rate our winter tour is hugely popular. Our annual 60-minute production of a classic story is packed full of fun, excitement and amazing story telling! With a promise to share Wizard Theatre magic, students can witness our Archery Competition in Robin Hood, to our huge revolving cave in Ali Baba.

Pinocchio

Based upon the original ‘Adventures of Pinocchio’ by Carlo Collodi, this sparkling production suitable for Key Stage One and Two children sees Gepetto the Carpenter painstakingly carve a puppet, only for the puppet to come alive and turn his back on his creator and ‘father’ in favour of a life of adventure. What follows is an extraordinary story of redemption, a life-affirming tale and a hysterical satire on growing up!
